1. Tell your friends and family that you are trying to eat a little healthier this year. Giving people that information and the permission to remind you of your goals when the cookies start to ALL look really tempting will give you a little back up, and it will make them less likely to hassle you about eating every item available if they know what your method is.
2. Bring your own dish or two to the party. I'm not saying that you have to bring just a tray of veggies. Make a super yummy dish or two, but take the time to fill it with guiltless ingredients and wow everyone with your cooking prowess! They won't even be able to tell that it's healthy, I bet, and you'll have something delicious and good-for-you to eat!
3. Skip the drinks. Whether it's alcohol or eggnog, the drinks of the party are the things that will take you over the edge and ruin those health goals of your. If you really neeeeeeddd to have one, aim for just that.....one.
4. Pick a few things that you WILL be indulging in. The holidays should not be about depriving yourself, but they also shouldn't take a whole year to recover from either! Pick a few things that you know you'll want to have (mom's pumpkin pie for me!), and eat them! But make sure not to go overboard and not to choose the whole spread of food as the things you need to have!
5. Enjoy, and don't beat yourself up if you eat one too many cookies.
:)
