When it comes to staying healthy, sometimes I dread the weekend! You know what I mean? I can't wait for the weekend in order to have some time off work, but I know that it's going to be wayyyyy harder to stay on track with my health and fitness goals. But not this weekend! This is my plan for keeping the weight off this weekend, and even losing some!
1. Get an extra hour of sleep per day. Usually, during the work week, I am not getting much sleep at all, and I can bet that you are the same way! Our bodies burn fat, recharge, and rebuild while we are sleeping. If we rob ourselves of sleep, we are robbing our bodies of the chance to do that. Getting an extra hour of sleep will help our bodies catch up on this while not changing our schedules up so much that it throws us off track.
2. Pick one meal this weekend to treat yourself with. This is not one meal per day. This is one meal during the whole weekend that you will be indulging on. The weekend should not be a chance for you to eat everything in your pantry. The weekend is going to separate those who really want to reach their goals from those that don't! And you can do this! So limit yourself to one treat meal per weekend.
3. Have a plan of attack. Plan your meals. Plan your workout. Plan your weekend. The reason that I am suggesting this, is so that you can be prepared for the things that come up during the weekend. If your friend is having a dinner party and you don't want that to be your treat meal, have a plan for how to get through that dinner without gorging! Plan our your workouts and exactly what time you want to do them so that there is no excuse for why you don't get them done. People with a plan are more successful. There, I said it. :)
4. Watch the drinks. Literally watch them, and let that be the end of it. Ha! Don't touch them or pick them up or put the alcohol to your lips this weekend. You can do this for ONE weekend. Alcohol not only is filled with empty calories and very few IF ANY nutrients, but it impairs your judgement, so that chocolate cake might not be so easy to resist.
5. Change from "can't" to "won't". The moment that you let it slip that you can't have something, it makes everyone in the room want to tell you that you can. It also is going to make you feel deprived. When you change the wording to "won't" or even allowing yourself to say that you don't want to indulge outside of your plan, it puts YOU in charge instead of the food ruling you. And when you think of how hot your'e going to look this summer, I promise that the cookies won't look as good.
